AMERICAN LANDSCAPE

NOT FROM HERE NOT FROM THERE

Video + Interview Books

America, often described as a “melting pot,” is home to a diverse group of individuals with distinct histories, cultures, and identities. Yet the discourse surrounding immigration is often hostile and xenophobic. This constructed narrative shapes the realities of immigrants and their families. As first-generation Americans, this is the landscape we navigate while also confronting the clash between two different cultures, each with its own values, traditions, and expectations. At times, assimilation can seem like the only choice given to us. This comes with a dangerous consequence: the erasure of culture, which affects us and future generations.

Displayed at the ICA Chattanooga, April 12-20 2024, as part of the 2024 BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition.
